The Same God Who Delivered You

In our world right now, there’s no shortage of unrest, uncertainty, and unsettling events. Everywhere you turn, there’s another headline, another crisis, another “what now?” moment.

In the Old Testament, we often hear God reminding His people:

“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt.”
(Exodus 20:2, Deuteronomy 5:6, Leviticus 26:13)

At first glance, it might sound a little like the ancient version of a Southern mom guilt trip: “Remember what I did for you? All those miracles? The Red Sea thing?!”

But when we look closer at God’s heart and character, we realize it’s not about guilt…it’s about trust. He’s saying, “You’ve seen My faithfulness before; I haven’t change. I AM that I AM…you can trust Me still.”

God wanted His people to remember His track record…how He delivered, provided, and protected, because remembering what He has done anchors us when life feels shaky.

When we’re faced with hard seasons, we’re not so different from Peter stepping out on the water. The moment we take our eyes off Jesus and focus on the wind and waves, we start to sink (Matthew 14:29–31). But if we keep our eyes on the One who controls the storm, peace follows, even if the waves are still crashing.

It’s important for His children today to remember, too:

He is the God who delivered you!

Maybe not from Egypt, but maybe from darkness, anxiety, fear, shame, addiction, or despair. Maybe you are still in the fight, but as a sealed child of the almighty, you are now fighting FROM victory! He’s the God who showed up when you thought all hope was lost. He’s the God who opened doors no one else could. He’s the God who has carried you this far—and He’s not dropping you now. He’s the God that spared His children from eternity apart from His marvelous Glory! He’s the God that made a way when there was no way!

When we forget who He is, we start trying to carry the weight of the world ourselves. And that’s a load we were never designed to bear. Jesus reminds us:

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

Paul echoes this in Philippians 4:6–7:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

And in 1 Peter 5:7, we’re told:

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”

Our worry and fear can only be extinguished by remembering who God is:

● The Alpha and Omega (Revelation 22:13)

● The Creator of the universe (Genesis 1:1)

● The King of kings and Lord of lords (1 Timothy 6:15)

● The God of Heaven’s Armies (Psalm 46:7)

● The Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to come find us (Luke 15:4)

● The Father who delights in giving good gifts to His children (Matthew 7:11)

And here’s the best part: He does not change.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”(Hebrews 13:8)
“God is not man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that He should change His mind.” (Numbers 23:19)

The wise Brother George Strait calls us to remind ourselves of truth with this healthy exercise, “Baby, write this down, take a little note to remind you in case you didn’t know!”

Jot this down so that you may never forget! He can’t change. He can’t lie. He can’t lose. If His Word says it, you can bank your life on it. Even when the world feels unsteady, God’s promises are rock solid. And spoiler alert: we already know how this story ends.

“Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True… On His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” (Revelation 19:11,16)

That’s our Jesus! The victorious One who’s coming back to make all things right.

So even when life on this side of heaven doesn’t look like we hoped, we can hold tight to eternal perspective. The story isn’t over. God’s promises stretch far beyond our momentary troubles.

Paul writes,

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”(Romans 8:18)

And Revelation reminds us what that glory will look like:

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)

There’s coming a day when the light of His Glory outshines all the darkness. Until then, we remember, He is still the same God who delivered us before. And He will be faithful still. Reflect today on the ‘Egypt’ that the Lord has delivered you from? Never forget! Give him all the Glory and Honor and Praise today!!
