Real help for the hardest seasons.

Banner is a Christian counseling practice in Monroe. Our licensed counselors work with individuals, couples, and families, bringing the tools of clinical therapy together with a Christian understanding of the person.

Banner Institute is a faith-based counseling and coaching practice in Monroe, Louisiana, offering Christian counseling, coaching, neurofeedback, and crisis & high-conflict services.

More than managing symptoms

Our counselors are licensed clinicians who use the same evidence-based methods you'd expect from good therapy anywhere. What's different is the destination. True healing takes more than quieting symptoms or sorting through feelings — it means becoming who you were made to be. So we hold clinical skill inside a Christian understanding of the person, and let that, not just the absence of pain, set the direction of the work.

Individual Counseling

One-on-one work for what you're carrying — anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, addiction, the weight of a hard season. A licensed counselor who knows the clinical work and won't lose sight of where it's going.

Marriage Counseling

One of the deepest parts of what we do. You and your spouse meet together with a counselor for the real work of a marriage — rebuilding trust after betrayal, breaking patterns that have hardened over years, and learning to move toward each other again. Some of our most experienced counselors specialize here.

Family Counseling

When the strain is in the household itself — between parents and children, or across a family finding its way through a hard change. Work that treats the family as a whole, not one person to fix.

What we help with

People bring us the full range of what a life can carry.
Some of the most common:

Anxiety Depression Trauma Grief Betrayal Church Hurt Parenting

This isn't a full list. If what you're facing isn't here, it still belongs in the conversation — our Care Coordinator will help you find the right counselor.

Where counseling fits

Counseling is usually where the work begins — meeting people in crisis and walking them onto steadier ground. In the arc every part of Banner shares, that's Rescue, reaching into Stability. And healing rarely stops with one person: when someone begins to heal, the whole household tends to feel it.

Beneath the work

Neurofeedback

If you've tried counseling before and it never quite took, the reason may sit underneath the talk entirely — a nervous system stuck on high alert. Neurofeedback trains the brain to settle, and for many people it's what finally lets the counseling land. It doesn't replace the work; it clears the way for it.

Once the ground is steady

Coaching & Spiritual Formation

You don't have to be in crisis to sense there's more. When the ground is steady and you know you're still not who you're meant to be, that's where our coaching and spiritual formation work picks up — the Stability stage, the deliberate work of becoming rooted in Christ. Formation coaching gives it structure and a goal; spiritual direction gives it unhurried company. It's not therapy, and it's where the deeper growth begins.

How to begin

One conversation. Free, about twenty minutes, with our Care Coordinator.

1

The first conversation

A free, roughly twenty-minute call with our Care Coordinator. You'll talk through where you are, what's bringing you in, and the practical questions — insurance, scheduling, what to expect.

2

Your match

You leave with a specific recommendation: a counselor suited to what you're facing, and a clear first step. No vague "we'll be in touch."

3

The work begins

Your first session with your counselor. From there the work is steady, honest, and pointed at where you're going.

Or call us: 318.396.8152

If what you need is something we don't offer, we'll tell you that plainly, and point you toward who can help.

Frequently asked questions

Do you accept insurance?

Many of our therapists accept insurance. Where a therapist is out-of-network for your plan, we can provide a superbill you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement. Because it depends on your plan and your counselor, ask our Care Coordinator before your first visit and we'll walk you through exactly how it works.

How much does counseling cost?

Counseling is real work at a real price, and rates vary by counselor and by the kind of work. Rather than post a number that won't fit every situation, we talk it through openly when you speak with our Care Coordinator — including how insurance or a superbill may apply.

Do you offer online (telehealth) counseling?

Yes. Counseling is available in person at our Monroe office and by secure video for clients across Louisiana, and in select other states where our counselors are licensed. What's available depends on your counselor and where you are, so ask our Care Coordinator what's open right now.

Do you offer marriage or family counseling?

Yes — both are core parts of what we do. In marriage counseling, you and your spouse meet together with a counselor to do the real work of a marriage; in family counseling, we work with the household as a whole. Some of our most experienced counselors specialize here. When a marriage needs more than a weekly hour, we also offer occasional marriage intensives — ask our Care Coordinator which fits.

What's the difference between counseling and coaching at Banner?

Counseling is licensed clinical work — for anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, a marriage in trouble, and other hard seasons. Coaching and spiritual formation are for the person who's steady, out of crisis, and wants to grow into a deeper life with God. Counseling meets you in Rescue and Stability; coaching picks up in Stability and beyond. Not sure which you need? Our Care Coordinator will help you tell.

Do I have to be a Christian to come to Banner?

No. Most people who come to us are already walking with Christ, but we don't require it. We're honest about our foundation — our counselors work from Christian conviction, held together with real clinical skill — and we believe that honesty serves people of every background better than vagueness does.

Start with one conversation

You don't have to name what's wrong or know which kind of help you need. Tell our Care Coordinator where you are, and together you'll find the next step.

Wherever you are — Rescue, Stability, Strength — there is a next step, and you won’t take it alone.
