Crisis & High-Conflict Services
Experienced counsel when the situation has gotten out of hand.
Some situations outgrow the usual help. A conflict in a home that has turned dangerous. A custody battle that is consuming a family. A church or organization facing a crisis it doesn't know how to handle. A counselor who can see that the case in front of them needs more than counseling. Banner provides crisis guidance and high-conflict consulting for exactly these moments.
We don't come to take a side. We come to establish what is actually happening, protect the people in harm's way, and guide everyone involved toward order restored. In the arc that runs through everything Banner does, this is Rescue — the work that comes first, so that Stability and Strength can follow.

Banner Institute is a faith-based counseling and coaching practice in Monroe, Louisiana, offering Christian counseling, coaching, neurofeedback, and crisis & high-conflict services.
Counsel for the whole conflict
When a conflict escalates, everyone around it reaches for an ally. What the situation actually needs is someone who isn't one. Banner's crisis and high-conflict work serves individuals in harm's way, families being pulled apart, pastors and counselors at the edge of their depth, and organizations in the middle of a storm — including those whose own behavior sits at the center of it. Because a crisis doesn't resolve when one side wins. It resolves when what is broken is named, and order is restored.
Immediate crisis guidance
When something has just happened, or is still happening: clear-headed direction, safety planning, and the first right steps — before missteps make it worse.
Long-term consultation
Ongoing counsel for individuals and organizations working through the aftermath — months, not moments, with someone who has walked this road many times.
On-site crisis response
When the crisis lives in a church or community, we come to it — on-the-ground response, and the slower work of restoring what was broken.
Strategic counsel for legal & relational complexity
High-conflict situations tangle courtrooms, families, and congregations together. We help you see the whole board and act wisely on it.
Training & prevention
Equipping organizations to prevent abuse, recognize danger early, and restore sacred trust where it has been broken.
High Conflict Consultant
Tom Pryde
Tom Pryde has spent twenty-five years as a pastor, much of it in the hardest rooms a pastor can enter: homes, churches, and organizations in the wake of abuse and high conflict. He is the founder and principal of the Psalm 82 Initiative, and one of the nation's most trusted voices in abuse response and organizational healing. His counsel is sought by families, churches, and organizations across the country and beyond.
Tom is usually called in when someone is out of their depth: a counselor who can see that the case in front of them needs more, a church board facing something it has never faced, a family in a legal fight it cannot navigate alone. What he brings is not a toolkit. It is wisdom: formed by a life in Scripture, tested across twenty-five years of pastoral work, and sharpened by a working command of the legal and organizational dynamics most helpers never have to learn.
And he does not come to take a side. Tom works with everyone a crisis touches — the harmed, and, when they are willing, those who did the harm — because the aim is not victory for one party. It is truth named, people protected, and order restored.
“The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.”
JAMES 3:17
The ways this work takes shape
Every situation is different. Four forms the work most often takes:
High Conflict Coaching
Strategic, one-on-one guidance through a high-conflict relationship or situation. You get a clear read on what you are actually dealing with, a plan for safety and steadiness, and help avoiding the missteps that make volatile situations worse.
Court Assessment
For custody battles and family court. Tom helps you understand the dynamics at work, equip your attorney with the full picture, protect your children from the fallout of complicated arrangements, and make wise use of your resources along the way.
Organizational Consulting
For churches, businesses, and non-profits navigating high-conflict scenarios. Tom works with leadership teams to name what is stuck, work through what no seminary prepared them for, and get the organization moving again with its integrity intact.
Pastoral Counseling
For individuals healing in the aftermath of destructive events in a family, a church, or a workplace. Tom walks alongside as a pastor, bringing guidance and clarity where things have been confused for a long time.
Where this work fits
Every part of Banner works within one arc: Rescue, Stability, Strength. Crisis and high-conflict work is Rescue in its purest form. It comes first, when protection and truth matter more than progress, and its job is to bring people and communities to the place where healing can even begin.
Alongside the crisis work
Counseling
Crisis work and counseling belong together. When the crisis itself has been handled, what it left behind often still needs care: trauma, betrayal, a marriage in crisis, children caught in the middle. Our counselors can step in at any point along the way, and because it is one institution, no one starts over with a stranger.
Explore counselingRescue is not the destination. When the storm passes, the same institution that walked you through it is built to walk you on, into Stability and toward Strength. That is why Banner exists as one practice and not a referral list.
Why Banner is built this wayFrequently asked questions
Do you only work with people in Monroe or Louisiana?
No. Banner is based in Monroe, Louisiana, but this work is not local. Tom serves families, churches, and organizations across the country, working by video for most consultation and coaching, and traveling on site when the situation calls for it.
Is this counseling?
No. This is consulting and pastoral care, not clinical therapy. Tom is a pastor and high-conflict consultant with decades of experience, not a licensed counselor, and the two kinds of work are kept distinct on purpose. When clinical care is needed, Banner's licensed counselors work alongside Tom under the same roof, so the people inside the crisis are cared for while the crisis itself is being handled.
Our church is in crisis. Can Tom come to us?
Yes. On-site crisis response is a core part of this work: Tom comes to churches and organizations to help leadership navigate what is happening, respond rightly to those affected, and begin restoring what was broken. Reach out to our Care Coordinator and the conversation will be handled with urgency and discretion.
Do I have to be a Christian to work with Tom?
No. Tom works with people of every background, and a crisis does not check anyone's beliefs first. But he approaches everything from a Christian perspective: his counsel is formed by Scripture, and his aim is order restored, not just conflict managed. We are honest about that up front, because honesty serves everyone better than vagueness does.
How much does this cost?
This is serious work at a real price, and what it costs depends entirely on what the situation requires: a few coaching sessions and an on-site organizational response are very different engagements. Rather than post numbers that won't fit your situation, we talk it through plainly when you speak with our Care Coordinator.
I'm not sure my situation is serious enough. Should I still reach out?
If you are asking the question, it is worth a conversation. Many of the hardest situations Tom sees became hard because people waited. One confidential call with our Care Coordinator costs you nothing but the time, and you will leave it knowing whether this is the right kind of help.
How to begin
One confidential conversation.
You do not need the right words or a clear picture of the situation. Reach out to our Care Coordinator and tell them what is happening. It will be handled with the urgency and confidentiality it deserves. If this is work for Tom, they will connect you directly, and the practical questions get answered in that same conversation. If what you need is something else, they will say so plainly and point you toward who can help.
What is broken can be named. What is named can be mended. And you do not have to begin alone.
